About The North

What we have is an attempt to produce a biography of a region.

Think of it as a digital bookshelf on top of a filing cabinet.

The project's main strands on the bookshelf contain several booklets in PDF format that bind together.

About The North: An Introduction discusses matters relating to Northern history in general, its relationship to Australian history, and the methodology involved throughout the project.

Recollection, Reflection and Reminiscence explores the author's experience living in The North over a period encompassing more than one-third of its migaloo history.

Origins, Indigenes and Antecedents explores the physical, human, and historical backgrounds behind the main narratives.

Mapping The North attempts to present a regional history, starting with an attempt to fit the pre-settlement exploration of the area into a global and continental perspective.

Material that explores related questions and doesn't quite fit elsewhere turns up in my Themes and Variations.

The bookshelf also contains Sources and Readings and Texts relating to those main strands.

Below the bookcase, a virtual filing cabinet allows the interested reader to find further details about people, places and events without losing your place in the PDF book or booklet.
